keeping weight off: how to avoid staking the pounds back on

The hardest thing in the world for someone who has managed to lose those extra unwanted pounds, and who has finally achieved the weight that they have always wanted, is to keep the weight off once and for all.
Once you have reached your goal, it is all too easy to stack the pounds back on by going back to your old ways, snacking between meals, eating fast lunches that are more often than not, bad for the waistline and of course drinking alcohol which is one of the biggest culprits for weight gain. So what to do?  Is the question you end up asking yourself and the answer could not be simpler. The best advice you could listen to is to keep up with any exercise programme you have set for yourself and make sure that you actually enjoy these work out programmes whether it is jogging, swimming or going to the gym. To make sure that your healthy eating habits remain not only healthy but enjoyable. There is absolutely no point in punishing yourself with unappetising meals. You will find that there are many wonderfully nourishing low calorie foods available in every food store.
When it comes to your eating habits, if you simply cannot resist the temptation of snacking in between your meals then try to buy things that have a low calorie content, or even better start eating fresh fruit which is not only extremely healthy but will aid you in maintaining the weight you have managed to achieve through the diet you have previously followed.
Also try to avoid eating heavy meals in the evening as it is a known fact that you digest food at a much slower rate when you are sleeping. Instead try to have a good fibre and fruit type cereal for breakfast, treat yourself to a healthy low calorie but filling lunch and then just have an appetising snack in the evening before you go to bed.
Another important point is that you must limit your intake of alcohol. You do not have to stop drinking all together but just treat yourself to the odd glass now and again, after all it is no fun to abstain from all the nicer things in life just so that you can feel and look good. Everything you eat or drink should be in moderation and this is a guide line that is worth following for those who tend to put on the pounds at the drop of a hat.
After having lost all the weight and then buying yourself a new wardrobe, it is depressing to just pile the pounds back on, making you go up a few dress sizes, so it is important to enjoy your new shapely figure whilst enjoying a healthy diet with plenty of nourishing and appetising meals that you can either prepare for yourself or you can opt to buy the ready meals which are calorie conscious and which are easy to cook in a microwave in just a few minutes. The most important thing is to remember to do everything in moderation, this way you stand a more than good chance of keeping that unwanted off you forever.
