Which foods to avoid in order to lose weight

When choosing a diet you must remember that eating healthily is of the upmost importance. It is no good shedding the pounds too quickly at the beginning of your diet as your body will panic and hold on to the extra pounds that you hope to be rid of. Instead you must understand that losing the weight gradually will work in your favour in the long run. There are lots of healthy ways to maintain a good diet but there are certain foods which must be avoided at all times as eating them will be a sure way of ploughing back on those unwanted and unsightly extra pounds.
Avoid starchy foods which have very high levels of carbohydrates such as potatoes, rice and bread, in fact avoid anything with contains wheat or maize as these types of food will make you gain unnecessary weight. Alcohol is also to be avoided for this same reason.  Try to keep away from processed foods too as these can contain high levels of starch which is used as a thickener in the making of most processed foods that are on the market today. Other starch laden foods to avoid are lentils, oats, beans, peas and chickpeas. There are plenty of alternatives these days that contain much lower levels of starch and which are ideal for anyone who is on a diet or who wants to maintain a balanced diet.
A ‘must’ to keep well away from when you are trying to shed those extra pounds is sugar. So avoid eating any foods that have even a low level of sugar content. Instead go for the sugar free alternatives, and there are plenty to choose from in every supermarket in the high street across the world.
Although everybody enjoys a glass of wine or a drink to celebrate a special occasion it is just not a good idea to indulge when you are dieting. Alcohol will be out of the question if you are really serious about your diet, however, a glass of white wine at the end of the week to celebrate the fact that you have achieved a goal in losing the weight you wanted to lose, can be a little reward for you from time to time.
You must avoid at all cost fatty foods, so the French fry, oil and buttery foods are definite no no’s in your diet. Also cheese is off the menu for those who are on a diet. At the beginning of your diet plan, these are some of the foods to avoid at all costs, once you have shed a bit of weight you can get healthy alternatives, which will be just as pleasant to eat, in order to replace the things that you should avoid eating, even when you have reached your goal.
Remember that in this modern world where image is of the upmost importance, there are plenty of alternatives to the forbidden foods. Those people who are desperately trying to lose weight now have fantastic choices of alternatives to select from in order to maintain  healthier and more balanced diets.

keeping weight off: how to avoid staking the pounds back on

The hardest thing in the world for someone who has managed to lose those extra unwanted pounds, and who has finally achieved the weight that they have always wanted, is to keep the weight off once and for all.
Once you have reached your goal, it is all too easy to stack the pounds back on by going back to your old ways, snacking between meals, eating fast lunches that are more often than not, bad for the waistline and of course drinking alcohol which is one of the biggest culprits for weight gain. So what to do?  Is the question you end up asking yourself and the answer could not be simpler. The best advice you could listen to is to keep up with any exercise programme you have set for yourself and make sure that you actually enjoy these work out programmes whether it is jogging, swimming or going to the gym. To make sure that your healthy eating habits remain not only healthy but enjoyable. There is absolutely no point in punishing yourself with unappetising meals. You will find that there are many wonderfully nourishing low calorie foods available in every food store.
When it comes to your eating habits, if you simply cannot resist the temptation of snacking in between your meals then try to buy things that have a low calorie content, or even better start eating fresh fruit which is not only extremely healthy but will aid you in maintaining the weight you have managed to achieve through the diet you have previously followed.
Also try to avoid eating heavy meals in the evening as it is a known fact that you digest food at a much slower rate when you are sleeping. Instead try to have a good fibre and fruit type cereal for breakfast, treat yourself to a healthy low calorie but filling lunch and then just have an appetising snack in the evening before you go to bed.
Another important point is that you must limit your intake of alcohol. You do not have to stop drinking all together but just treat yourself to the odd glass now and again, after all it is no fun to abstain from all the nicer things in life just so that you can feel and look good. Everything you eat or drink should be in moderation and this is a guide line that is worth following for those who tend to put on the pounds at the drop of a hat.
After having lost all the weight and then buying yourself a new wardrobe, it is depressing to just pile the pounds back on, making you go up a few dress sizes, so it is important to enjoy your new shapely figure whilst enjoying a healthy diet with plenty of nourishing and appetising meals that you can either prepare for yourself or you can opt to buy the ready meals which are calorie conscious and which are easy to cook in a microwave in just a few minutes. The most important thing is to remember to do everything in moderation, this way you stand a more than good chance of keeping that unwanted off you forever.
